Professionals with a Big Heart
Posted 03/05/24Ohio County, WV - We our family services staff ! March provides a special opportunity to celebrate those in the field of social work. These professionals connect with families to support their individual family needs, meeting them in their homes and understanding their parenting challenges and needs. They guide parents to resources within the community, supporting parents to promote their children's health/dental/mental care needs, and supports to understand their children's learning experience. These social service professionals are an important team member at the classroom level and promote children's attendance by way of building bonds with parents and engaging them to understand a routine and regular participation. Parents are decision makers in a Head Start program, as members of governing bodies and education/health/family services oversight committees.
Today, we celebrate Torrie Davis (left). Torrie has been with NPHS for 6 years and filled many positions from teacher, kitchen aide, parent educator and now FRA (Family Resource Advocate). Danielle Preston (right), has been on her mission as a FRA for just over a year now.
Torrie's favorite part of her position is working with families and learning where they come from. Danielle loves making a positive impact on families when they need her.
These ladies are professionals with a big heart and offer compassion toward families on a daily basis. They hug children on a daily basis too!
