Miss Krissy Providing Joy on a Home Base Program Visit
Posted 01/11/23Brooke County, WV - Miss Krissy, parent educator (prenatal to age 3), provides her joy with us as she visits with 2 of our little ones enrolled in her home base program.
"C and E meet me at the front door with smiling faces every time I arrive for a home visit. C holds the door and welcomes me into her home. It is guaranteed to make my day! During my visit with them, we worked on putting a floor puzzle together. With some help, persistence, and patience, C completed the floor puzzle. She was very proud! Puzzles are wonderful for building cognitive and fine motor skills. It is also an excellent opportunity to work on language, problem-solving, and social and emotional skills as well." The uniqueness of the home visiting program is that the parents are also engaged in the activities and planning learning experiences along side the parent educator. In addition to the weekly home visits, the children and their parents gather twice monthly for play time 'social group time'.
Children enrolled in the home base program have another unique opportunity and that is to transition from the prenatal to 3 program into a preschool setting either operated by the Head Start 3-5 yr old program or another early childhood program to meet their individual need.
If you enroll in the under age 3 home base program in Ohio or Marshall County, you would have another unique opportunity whereas we have center base services for children under age 3. We encourage families to consider home base if seeking center base services for this chance to enroll into a classroom at some point with consultation of the family.
Our overall program goal is to support the entire family thru school readiness and impact the future of our community. The children are our future and we absolutely look forward to sharing the benefits of our home base and center base program options.
